Year 5/6
Upper Juniors
Hello, we are the Upper Juniors class. In our class we like to have fun but also work really hard. As the oldest children in school, we like to act as role models for younger children and show responsibility around school.

What we have been up to...
January
We started the term by revising all our school rules, routines and learning about our expectations. We did outdoor learning and took part in the RSPB Big Bird Watch. We have been writing stories in English and learning about different animal lifecycles in science. We made crazy 3D art instillations using glue, glitter, powder paint and charcoal.
December
December is always a very busy month! In lessons we wrote letters, programmed micro bits and created cards, calendars and decorations. We watched a pantomime, went to the disco, had a lovely Christmas dinner, enjoyed the East Riding music concert and helped raise funds at the Christmas fair.
November
It was a busy month and we had to start getting ready for Christmas. We did auditions for our Christmas play and began rehearsals and signing the songs. We marked Remembrance Day by going to the memorial to take part in 2 minutes silence and paid our respect.
October
In the Upper Juniors, we had a great October as we are all settled into our new classes. We all did some first aid training and learnt some really important skills. At church, we led and performed in the Harvest Festival and celebrated Diwali at the end of the month. We finished our first book, Thornhill, and then were able to write some fantastic stories inspired by the novel.
September
We have had a busy start to the year and have settled well into our new year groups. Everyone in the class has applied for jobs in school and also take part in play leader training. Mrs Walters led a French day and we all played French games, ate French food and wore red, white and blue for the day. In art we recreated some work by John Singer Sargent and have been enjoying reading Thornhill in English which has inspired some of our mysterious and spooky writing.
