Enjoy and achieve

  • Ours is a very happy learning community. The children enjoy coming to school - they know why they come to school.
  • Attendance is satisfactory; all absences are authorised, many for family holidays, with 0%unauthorised.
  • The children all stay at school for dinner -either a cooked meal or a packed lunch.
  • All extra-curriculor activities we offer are over-subscribed. Our curriculum is further broadened by special ’Busy Bees Days’ when something different happens ie) a visitor, a trip etc..
  • The children know what kind of behaviour is acceptable in school and demonstrate this inand around the school. The older children are willing to help and look after the younger children. All children show courtesy and respect to each other at almost all times.
  • We have a daily act of worship which involves all staff. The programme for each term is planned by our ecumenical ’Worship Group’ which includes representatives of local churches, children and governors. A candle is lit to signify a period of reflection. A wide range of themes are explored to consider beliefs and values, awe and wonder and the beauty of the world.
  • Our developing curriculum seeks to stress moral issues through a focus on compassion, tolerance, a sense of community, democracy in action, laws and making a positive contribution.
  • We encourage the types of behaviour we wish to see by the presentation of certificates, award of raffle tickets which are entered for a weekly draw during our weekly ’Congratulations’ assembly. We work hard as a staff to create a particularly positive ethos built on praise and encouragement.

All the children and staff attend assemblies.  Here the children are sitting quietly while waiting for the Upper Juniors to arrive.

At the end of the assembly one child is chosen to put out the candle.
