Our Community

Cameroon

A friend of our school Michael Holgate gives up his time to work with a community in Cameroon where the village had no clean water supplies.  We as a school pledged to raise money to help Michael provide further wells and provide a better school environment for the children.  Our school council are going to look at ways in which we can further help them this year, but in the meantime the 'well' collection point is still in the enterance hall if you have any spare change.  We hope that Michael will come into school soon to give us all an update on his work and progress in the village.  Thank you for your support in this very worthy cause.

French School

In March 2011, we entered into a link with a school in Vaas, France called Ecole élémentaire Les Peupliers. Our Lower Junior class is responsible for writing a class letter, in English, on behalf of our school to class CM2. These letters tell our partner school about our school and English culture and customs and we then receive a letter back (which we have to translate into English) about the same things. This is then shared with the rest of our school. Also, currently the children in Years 3,4 and 5 have a penpal in the school who they write to. This time, the children write in French to practise the language they are learning during their  French lessons including things like what they look like, where they live, their favourtie foods etc. The children really enjoy sharing information about our culture and always wait in anticipation for the reply!
